WHO WE ARE

Charities delivering in partnership

Dacortium aims to improve the quality of life of local people, especially those who are disadvantaged or vulnerable by delivering high quality, cost-effective services in a consistent, co-ordinated and co-operative manner. It also aims to provide its Members with access to public service tenders that they would not individually have access to due to their size and complexity
Dacortium first identifies such opportunities to tender and supports its Members to co-develop their service proposals. Once a contract is secured Dacortium and its Members then delivers it through sub-contract arrangements, Dacortium being the prime contractor. By doing this Dacortium and its members provide benefit for local communities and meet funder requirements. Local ‘not for profits’ working together and provide value for money services that local people need and want.

Why was Dacortium formed?

  • Traditional government grants and service level agreements are increasingly being replaced with contracts procured through open and competitive tendering processes.
  • Because Government organisations need to reduce their costs and improve service impact, larger and more complex contracts are being offered which may be beyond the reach for small to medium sized charities and not for profit organisations to deliver.
  • European Directives and UK Government policies require that potential providers of public service contracts have an equal opportunity to secure them but also they must be delivered by ‘capable providers’.
  • Dacortium is a response to these changes. By operating effectively together in consortium, its members can achieve the critical mass needed to compete for such public service contracts.
